Yogalates is a blend of Yoga and Pilates. Like yoga, it incorporates mindfulness, breath-led movement, stretching and guided relaxation. The difference is there is also a focus on strength and very precise alignment. Rather than just going for the biggest stretch we can find, we look for stability first, building it in particular through the core and the deep stabiliser muscles of the joints.
To be honest, we have been practising this in our Friday morning yoga classes for a few months now. So if you've been coming to that class, you know what it is. I'm renaming the class because I want to call a spade a spade and I'm proud to be able to offer this unique class.
Who is it for?
Those who want to build core strength
Those coming back from injury or illness
Those who like a slow, steady yoga practice
Those with niggly joint or back pain
Those who want to rebuild their strength post pregnancy
Those who lift weights (this practice is an amazing compliment to this!)
Those who love yoga and want to try something slightly different
Those who love pilates and would like to try yoga
Anyone who loves savasana at the end of their practice
When?
Fridays, 10-11am
Where?
The Schoolhouse, Monkstown, A94HH97
